Adult Recess: Dodgeball - Free Agent Registration Bring it back to those middle school PE days. Games will be 8v8 and be played in a round robin, double elimination format. We use 8 inch gator skin foam dodgeballs, so they will not leave a mark! Athleticism helps, but is certainly not required. At the end of the round robin once the weekly champion is crowned, we will play a big game with all teams divided into two on the court! This goal of this series is to bring our community together in a fun, playful way! Dates: Wednesdays, January 8th-February 12thTime: Games Start at 6:00pmEligibility: Ages 21+Location: Bourne Community Building GymRegistration Opens November 1st!There are two registration options: Free Agent & Team Registration Free Agents are solo participants looking to be placed on a team. Team Registration (8 Players Max): participants who are registering in groups of 8 players. One team captain will register your team, gather shirt sizes, be the point of contact for program information and be responsible for communicating that information to your team. Please list your team name during the registration process. Members of the team will sign the Recreation Department waiver in person prior to the first match. **In order to have the shirts in for the first game, team captains will have to gather sizes, and forward to Keith at KMcCready@bourne-ma.gov by Wednesday, December 18th**The Recreation Department reserves the right to place up to 4 free agents on a team. Final rosters will be made up of up to 12 players, and must have a minimum of 2 females rostered.24 free agents will be assigned a team, all others will be wait listed. If a spot opens, you will be notified as soon as that happens.Wait list balances must be paid within 24 hours of notification. You will be notified via the email listed on your household account. If balances remain after 24 hours, we will attempt to reach you via phone. If we do not hear back, your spot will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.Vulgar behavior, such as profanity and/or violence, toward other players, referees, or staff will not be tolerated and could result in removal from the program. Players will need experience to play, and be familiar with the rules of the game. Instruction is not offered. The gym is lined for 4 courts in total, 1 designated as a beginner court, 1 designated as a challenge court, and the remaining 2 for all levels. This program caps at 32 participants. Once filled we would encourage you to join the waiting list. If we are able to remove you from the waiting list, we will notify you via email and phone.Resident registration opens the second monday of the month prior to enrollment. Non-Residents are welcome to join, if space allows, the following Monday. Important Information:Attendance will be taken, all participants must sign in prior to play.Paddles are not provided, but we have some if you would like to borrow one.Bourne Rec has 4 indoor courts, divided by a curtain. Kids' Test Kitchen: Cooking Class - Kids Test Kitchen Do you have an aspiring chef at home that's always looking to help in the kitchen? This program is for you! Kids' Test Kitchen is on a mission to get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients!We present kids the opportunity to explore new or familiar foods in their raw, unmanipulated state. Then, working as a team, they’ll slice, dice, peel, measure, and cook until they’ve prepared the finished dish. Class closes with opportunity to taste the result of their hard work. Students receive a printed recipe card and the focal ingredient - or a sample of the finished dish - so they can show off what they learned!Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy Kids’ Test Kitchen, where participation isencouraged, and the choice to taste is always one’s own. Lessons are planned to celebrate seasonal produce, whole grains, and legumes.Kids have food allergies, but they shouldn’t miss out on the fun. Play Pickleball - Play Pickleball - Mondays The Play Pickleball program is for players of all abilities. Indoor Pickleball at Bourne Rec is held during the months of November - April. Players will need experience to play, and be familiar with the rules of the game. Instruction is not offered. The gym is lined for 4 courts in total, 1 designated as a beginner court, 1 designated as a challenge court, and the remaining 2 for all levels. This program caps at 32 participants. Once filled we would encourage you to join the waiting list. If we are able to remove you from the waiting list, we will notify you via email and phone.Resident registration opens the second monday of the month prior to enrollment. Non-Residents are welcome to join, if space allows, the following Monday. Important Information:Attendance will be taken, all participants must sign in prior to play.Paddles are not provided, but we have some if you would like to borrow one.Bourne Rec has 4 indoor courts, divided by a curtain. We use a board rotation system, one board for the front two courts and another for the back two courts. We ask that folks list their skill level when writing their names to create smoother court match ups.We are dedicated to offering an affordable option for our athletes; therefore, we are unable to pro-rate the registration fee. Refunds will not be issued for missed sessions, unless cancelled by Rec. We do not allow participants to "sub-out" their seat for a missed session. Often times, we have a wait list and all open spots must be offered to them first. To participate, you must be enrolled and listed on our attendance records.

Kids' Test Kitchen: Cooking Class - Kids Test Kitchen Do you have an aspiring chef at home that's always looking to help in the kitchen? This program is for you! Kids' Test Kitchen is on a mission to get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients!We present kids the opportunity to explore new or familiar foods in their raw, unmanipulated state. Then, working as a team, they’ll slice, dice, peel, measure, and cook until they’ve prepared the finished dish. Class closes with opportunity to taste the result of their hard work. Students receive a printed recipe card and the focal ingredient - or a sample of the finished dish - so they can show off what they learned!Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy Kids’ Test Kitchen, where participation isencouraged, and the choice to taste is always one’s own. Lessons are planned to celebrate seasonal produce, whole grains, and legumes.Kids have food allergies, but they shouldn’t miss out on the fun. We use 8 inch gator skin foam dodgeballs, so they will not leave a mark! Athleticism helps, but is certainly not required. At the end of the round robin once the weekly champion is crowned, we will play a big game with all teams divided into two on the court! This goal of this series is to bring our community together in a fun, playful way! Dates: Wednesdays, January 8th-February 12thTime: Games Start at 6:00pmEligibility: Ages 21+Location: Bourne Community Building GymRegistration Opens November 1st!There are two registration options: Free Agent & Team Registration Free Agents are solo participants looking to be placed on a team. Team Registration (8 Players Max): participants who are registering in groups of 8 players. One team captain will register your team, gather shirt sizes, be the point of contact for program information and be responsible for communicating that information to your team. Please list your team name during the registration process. Members of the team will sign the Recreation Department waiver in person prior to the first match. **In order to have the shirts in for the first game, team captains will have to gather sizes, and forward to Keith at KMcCready@bourne-ma.gov by Wednesday, December 18th**The Recreation Department reserves the right to place up to 4 free agents on a team. Final rosters will be made up of up to 12 players, and must have a minimum of 2 females rostered.24 free agents will be assigned a team, all others will be wait listed. If a spot opens, you will be notified as soon as that happens.Wait list balances must be paid within 24 hours of notification. You will be notified via the email listed on your household account. If balances remain after 24 hours, we will attempt to reach you via phone. At the end of the round robin once the weekly champion is crowned, we will play a big game with all teams divided into two on the court! This goal of this series is to bring our community together in a fun, playful way! Players will need experience to play, and be familiar with the rules of the game. Instruction is not offered. The gym is lined for 4 courts in total, 1 designated as a beginner court, 1 designated as a challenge court, and the remaining 2 for all levels. This program caps at 32 participants. Once filled we would encourage you to join the waiting list. If we are able to remove you from the waiting list, we will notify you via email and phone.Resident registration opens the second monday of the month prior to enrollment. Non-Residents are welcome to join, if space allows, the following Monday. Important Information:Attendance will be taken, all participants must sign in prior to play.Paddles are not provided, but we have some if you would like to borrow one.Bourne Rec has 4 indoor courts, divided by a curtain. We use a board rotation system, one board for the front two courts and another for the back two courts. We ask that folks list their skill level when writing their names to create smoother court match ups.We are dedicated to offering an affordable option for our athletes; therefore, we are unable to pro-rate the registration fee. Refunds will not be issued for missed sessions, unless cancelled by Rec. We do not allow participants to "sub-out" their seat for a missed session. Kids' Test Kitchen: Cooking Class - Kids Test Kitchen Do you have an aspiring chef at home that's always looking to help in the kitchen? This program is for you! Kids' Test Kitchen is on a mission to get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients!We present kids the opportunity to explore new or familiar foods in their raw, unmanipulated state. Then, working as a team, they’ll slice, dice, peel, measure, and cook until they’ve prepared the finished dish. Class closes with opportunity to taste the result of their hard work. Students receive a printed recipe card and the focal ingredient - or a sample of the finished dish - so they can show off what they learned!Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy Kids’ Test Kitchen, where participation isencouraged, and the choice to taste is always one’s own. Shootaround - Shootaround Shootaround is a program of the Recreation Department for residents to use the gym to play pick up basketball or simply work on their skill set. Shootaround is an unsupervised program. Participants are free to come and go from the community center. It is recommended that parents of children 12 and under stay to supervise. Please bring your own basketball.All participants must be registered and sign in prior to participating. This program may be cancelled due to schedule conflicts. All participants must adhere to Community Building Policies and Procedures.No team practices or coaching is allowed during shootaround.The Shootaround schedule is updated monthly, please check back regularly for updated times.
